The 70th Meeting of Mind and Activity

Saturday, July 28, 2012

3:30PM - 7:30PM
Room 1555, on the 5th floor of Main Building (Building #1)
Meiji Gakuin University, Tokyo

Program

We plan to have three sessions.

3:30 PM: Dom Berducci,
Infant spit-ups in interactional sequence (Data session)

For this data session, I would like to examine infant-spit-ups and their relation to caregiver responses. I have begun to transcribe and seem to have found some patterns which I would like to have verified by M and A participants: Caregivers responses to 1) ill-infant spit up, 2) spit-up caused by caregiver acting on infant, 3) (seeming) spontaneous spitting-up.

4:25 PM: Aug Nishizaka,
Healthcare providers' gaze at pregnant women during ultrasound examinations

I bring some fragments where health care providers look at pregnant women's face during prenatal ultrasound examinations and present their analysis. It seems to me that there are very clear patterns observable on their (HCP's) gaze-behavior, I would appreciate people's thoughts as to how to describe these patterns.

6:45 PM: Baikuntha Bhatta,
Repair in Microteaching Interaction (Data session)

If anybody is interested in bringing their own data, analyses, observations, arguments, or whatever, to a next meeting to discuss together, please contact Aug Nishizaka at augnish(a)soc.meijigakuin.ac.jp.
